Psalms 145 – Praising Gods Greatness (Playlist Included)

My devotional this morning led me to read Psalms 145 & it blessed me in such a way that it led me to come back & write. So hello, from my balcony at 2:30 in the afternoon. The sun is shining and the breeze is light.

To be completely honest, this morning while I was still in my bed, I asked the Holy Spirit to give me something different to pray about. To give me new words. I feel like I pray & say the same things over and over again. So when I opened my devotional, saw the scripture (Psalms 145:18), I was prompted to read the whole passage. Little did I know, He was giving me new words and a fresh way to pray.

This may have been my 1st time reading this passage & I didn\’t expect it to hit me the way it did. I didn\’t expect the Lord to meet me in this way this morning. I wanted Him to speak to me & give me answers about my afflictions, but instead He blessed me with a new way to praise Him. But, that\’s how good he is, right? He meets us in ways we least expect. It reminded me of something so simple, yet so often forgotten: to bless Gods name. Intentionally. Consistently. Always. This was the answer to my afflictions, Praise.

Psalm 145 is a love letter from David to God\’s character. It\’s a reminder that God is gracious, compassionate, slow to anger, and RICH in love. That His kingdom is everlasting. That His faithfulness endures through all generations. That He upholds those who fall and lifts those who are bowed down. I can attest to this truth because just last week I was bowed down weeping to God about my circumstances & just the other day, I fell into old sin (read the blog titled \”Don\’t look back\”). But here I am today, lifted back up by the grace of God. I know the enemy is upset about that. Lol.

We get caught up in asking God for things. For breakthrough. For healing. For deliverance from the struggle, the wilderness, & the waiting. I know I\’m guilty of it, and YES, we should be going to God for EVERYTHING, fervently. But in the asking, we must not forget the praising. We have to remember WHO He is, not just what we want Him to do.

How often do we forget to just praise Him. Not ask for anything, but to just Bless His name? Not just when things are good, but when they\’re hard. When we are tired, when we\’re unsure. But He is always worthy. Always good. Always present. And our praise is a weapon, a balm, a declaration of trust. Praise shifts our posture, it reminds us that He\’s already been faithful. Already been good. Already been present. Even when we\’re still waiting.

Our praise is much more than gratitude – it\’s a weapon. It confuses the enemy. It breaks chains. It lifts heaviness. When we choose to praise God in the middle of a storm, we\’re declaring that our faith is bigger than our fear. That our trust is louder than our doubt. That our God is greater than our circumstance. Praise is powerful. It\’s how we fight back when the enemy tries to whisper lies. It\’s how we anchor ourselves in truth when everything around us feels uncertain.

So, I\’ve decided to recite this Psalm every morning & night, as a heart posture shift. And I challenge you too as well. Because when I start and end my day with praise, when I remember who He is and what He\’s done – it changes everything. Even in suffering. Even in silence. Even in the wilderness.

We can\’t praise Him enough. But we can start. Today, tonight, tomorrow, and everyday thereafter. Let your praise be intentional. Let it be daily. Let it be your reminder that He is still God, still good and still working even when you can\’t see it. Bless His name. Always
