Ascension

Ascension — The name of the coffee shop that served as one of the Lord\’s many confirmations to me about moving to Dallas.

This time last year, my younger daughter & I took a trip to Dallas to scope out the land where the Lord was calling for us to relocate to. We got to stay in a beautiful loft apartment downtown & had the best view of the beautiful, ginormous, Christmas tree that stood in the center of Downtown Dallas. We also had front row views of the Dallas Christmas Parade, that we had no idea was happening, until it was happening. We didn\’t even have to face the cold weather; the best view was from the warmth & coziness of our loft. What a sweet surprise & amazing experience.

There were so many God-winks that I received during that trip, but one stands out now because God reminded me of it just yesterday with fresh revelation.

I woke up one of the mornings and said, \”Let\’s find a coffee shop to go to.\” In my quick Google search, I found one. Multiple locations, not too far, served good looking food, and very Instagram-able. So we went -Ascension Coffee.

I didn\’t think anything of the name of the coffee shop until yesterday. A whole year later.

The Lord brought that memory back to me and told me to look deeper into the word \”Ascension\”. I looked up the definition, and it all pointed to rising up, going higher, moving from a low place to a high place. In the Greek, it connects to Christ’s ascension into heaven on the 40th day after His resurrection.

That excited me because this revelation comes at a time when I’ve been questioning why God brought me to Dallas and wondering if I’m really doing enough. In the middle of my confusion & honestly some doubt, He reminded me of what He promised me when I first came here—that this move was about changing my life, about rising higher.

So even in the midst of difficulties & struggles of this season, God sent me this reminder: Ascension. A word that speaks of promise, of elevation, of His plan to lift me from where I am to where He has purposed me to be. Honestly, looking back, I can see the growth & ascension in myself & how far I\’ve come throughout this year.

Ascension is more than a coffee shop name, it’s a reminder that God is always lifting us higher, even when we can’t see the steps. He already knows the plan, and His promises don’t fade with time.

As I reflect on this past year, I see the ways He’s been raising me up, even through the struggles. And I believe He wants to do the same for you.

So I encourage you to pause and reflect: Where has God been nudging you to rise? What promises has He spoken over your life that you may have forgotten? Take a moment to remember, to sit with Him, and to trust that He is still bringing you higher.

Ascension is our reminder—He is not done with us yet. We are rising.
