How do I just be Lord?
That was the first question I asked because I really had no clue how to do that.
\”Be in Me.\”
\”Keep coming to me.\”
\”Rest in Me.\”
\”This is a good place to be, I\’m doing great work in you.\”
Those are the words He spoke to me.
And the longer I sat with it, the more it made sense. \”Just being\” isn\’t passive nor is it filled with distraction. It\’s not hoping and wishing for change. It\’s not filling idle time by social media or playing phone games.
It\’s a call to consecrate myself in the Lord. Its intimacy. Its studying the word, worshiping and staying close to the Lord. It\’s releasing the obsession with outcomes and letting this season prepare me for the next thing, the next place, the next instruction.
I\’ve been frustrated by what\’s not happening outwardly, but He\’s been focused on what\’s happening inwardly. Adding to my character, strengthening my faith, teaching me how to trust Him without striving.
Being starts with contentment in Him. I wrote in my journal \”I have to be content in You, Lord. If you have me in this place, and you\’re telling me to just be, then I\’m exactly where I\’m supposed to be.\”
It\’s about trusting everything in the stillness. In the normalcy of everyday life. Trusting and knowing that I\’m doing enough and when it\’s time to do something else, He will instruct me.
Seasons like this are intentional. They give space to reflect. They give space to gain knowledge & understanding, which produces wisdom. They help you to see how God is moving. They position you to be transformed by His word.
And that brings me back to Psalm 23 because it\’s not just about rest, it\’s about formation.
\”He restores my soul\” – That\’s internal work.
\”He guides me along the right paths.\” – That\’s character alignment.
\”For His name\’s sake.\” – That\’s purpose, not punishment.
\”I will fear no evil, for You are with me.\” – That\’s confidence being rebuilt.
“Just be” is the rest. “This is a good place to be” is the restoration. “I’m doing great work in you” is the transformation. Whew. That\’s good!
When God calls you to this space, take advantage of it. This place bears fruit. It may not look like much on the outside, but there’s real work happening underneath.
And before I closed my journal, He said one more thing to me:
\”The seeds are planted. You\’re being watered. Next, you bloom.\”
That was His reminder that this season isn\’t empty, it\’s necessary. Something is growing, even if I can\’t see it yet.
